About Us The Inventor - Lois Jaynes Puustinen Born in Kansas in 1912, Lois travelled West with her family to a farm on the banks of the McKenzie River in Oregon in 1925.
Having always had the freshest ingredients close at hand, she took to cooking as both a hobby and a necessity. Throughout her life she maintained a much deserved reputation as a gourmet cook, always pushing her art to the envelope.
After her education at the University of Oregon, and through varied careers in the Oregon woods, as a commercial salmon fisher on the Columbia River, a teacher, and an inventor, she always found the time to craft culinary delights for the family table.
After years of planning, research, testing, and design, Lois finally perfected and patented her dream Citrus Grater in 1977, readying it for market by 1980.
Sold continuously since then, and made entirely in Oregon, the Citrus Grater remains the premier grater for cooks requiring quality culinary products in their own home kitchen.
| The Citrus Grater Family The family Lois started on the banks of the McKenzie River continues to produce and sell her invention, while still living and working on the same family farm. Whenever there is a holiday feast, a special event, or simply a quiet dinner for friends and family, we continue the tradition of fine cooking and gourmet food around the old oak dinner table. We hope you will do the same! | |
